Climbing involves ascending or moving up an inclined plane or area. It could involve a simple daily activity like climbing up stairs or a strenuous activity like mountaineering (climbing mountains) . Compared to walking , running or other activity, more energy is consumed by the body since work has to be done to move the weight of the body against the force of gravity.
Climbing is part of routine maintenance activities and also during construction of structures. Other forms of climbing are recreational activities. Some of the common climbing activities include:
1. Buildering - climbing man made structures in urban using scaffolding. Conventional methods like stairs and elevators are not used.
2. Mountain climbing (mountaineering) - ascending hills and mountains as a sport or recreational activity.
3. Rock climbing
4. Tree climbing.
